University of Toronto
Complex General Surgical Oncology Program
One of few fellowship programs with dual accreditation by the AHPBA and the ACGME/RCPSC for HPB surgery and surgical oncology. Upon graduation, fellows are eligible for certification exams by the American Board of Surgery, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
The 2-year training program includes a first year of core rotations in general surgical oncology and a second year with 10-12 months dedicated to HPB surgery at the 6th largest cancer centre North-America with over 250 liver and pancreas resections annually. The faculty of 4 HPB surgical oncologists is active in health services research, surgical clinical trials, and quality improvement, and combines over $3 millions in research funding. In addition to HPB surgical oncology, they run specialized expertise in neuroendocrine tumors, hepatic artery infusion pump, and minimally invasive surgery.
